The Cubs Have Derek Jeter On Their Billboards
How does "Year Two" start for the Chicago Cubs? It's simple, really. Step 1: Put Derek Jeter, the most famous Cub of them all, on billboards across the city. Step 2: Profit.
Nothing says "don't get your hopes up" quite like making an opposing player the centerpiece of your pre-season advertising campaign. Trust me, I know: I watched way too many Bulls games between 2002 and 2005. It seems like it wasn't that long ago that the Cubs even needed advertising to fill the museum; now they're resorting to the type of cheap trick promotion usually reserved for such deities as the Marlins and Pirates. Oh, and bonus points for making Starlin Castro awkwardly stumble through questions about being compared to Jeter. Real smooth. A bunch of regular Don Draper's over there.
