12 games, friends. That's all that separates the Bulls from the end of this regular season. There may be playoffs, there may not be. The odds don't look too good at the moment, but I sort of think the Bulls will reach that 8th playoff spot by season's end.
Whether the Bulls make the postseason or get dropped in the first round is of little consequence, though. The real show begins in free agency, and the Bulls will have two targets: Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
Maybe it's foolish to read too much into interviews like the one above with Wade, but that's all we as fans really have, right? When Wade fawns over Rose, or Bosh admits frustration with Toronto's standings free-fall, nothing could seem more satisfying. Because this is really it for the Bulls: get Wade or Bosh, and they're a contender in the East next season. Get Boozer, get Joe Johnson, and though all is not lost, the Bulls will likely only be back where they were when 2008-2009 ended. Get no one? Ah. Let's not even consider it.
The stakes are just so high, the risk is just so great. If you're a Bulls fan, how can you not think about this summer every time you think about the team?
I don't have any gut feelings how this is going to turn out, I don't want to make any predictions. I'm just anxious. Really anxious. It's going to be like that until the day something happens.
Anything's possible. A year ago, who among us would have thought that the Bears would have Cutler and Peppers on their roster? I would have gladly made bets against that happening, all day long.
And lost.
Same with Peavy, especially after he declined the first time.
And Pisa Tinoisamoa.
And Magic with AIDs
If the Bulls get Wade, I may actually watch them next year. That would be actually fun to watch.
Haha, you (and Phil) said the same thing about Rose. "If the Bulls get Rose, I'll actually watch!" Uh...
bulls should get d'wade...dRose + dWade = a RING!!
