Derrick Rose Owns All-Star Game, Leads East to Victoryby Ricky O'Donnell on February 15 at 12:07AM
 Like a Bulls game, just with 88,000 extra people.The final stat line for our hometown hero on Sunday: eight points, four assists, and three steals in 15 minutes of action. Not the national coming out party I was hoping for, but a still successful debut. I actually doubt that Rose even would have played in this one if it wasn't his first All-Star berth. You could tell he wasn't goin' full speed, and never really seemed to push himself. In a game that should have been perfectly suited for his strengths - speed! dunks! fast breaks! - Rose really didn't have a big impact or deliver any crazy highlights. I'll blame Rose's relative lack of awesomeness on the bum hip, but by all accounts the injury is nothing serious. Being able to play in this game clearly meant a ton to Rose, so I'm glad he was able to get out there. Obviously, it was also pretty sweet seeing him on the same team with LeBron, Wade, Bosh, ect. Give D-Rose one of those dudes as a teammate next year, and I promise to never bitch about screwing up Tyrus ever again. Also: I really enjoyed this picture.  Notice Garnett acting like a dumbass. Notice Rose demonstrating how to be a 'chill bro'. Notice Paul Pierre attempting to bait me into a "CELTICZ R GHEY!" joke. Notice the little girl under KG's legs. And, shit, there's David Lee. He totally belongs in this photo.
So much good stuff. I love the NBA All-Star Game. *** Final All-Star Thoughts - Seeing white people complain about how the NBA All-Star Game sucks on Twitter really made me love it 100x more. If I could attend one sporting event, seriously, this might be it. It's not even about the game, which may actually be the lamest part of the entire weekend. It's about apathy, and excess, and partying, and sports = fun. It's like the Tyrus Thomas of events! If you can't get behind those four virtues, this blog probably isn't for you. I mean, where else are you going to be able to witness Charles Barkley and Cheryl Miller cuttin' up a dance floor? Sir Charles was legitimately drunk on TV for three days in a row, and no one cared. And for whatever reason, the added element of danger that the '07 ASG brought into the equation only makes everything seem cooler in my mind. This is the type of thing I need to experience. LA next year, anyone? - A massive tip of the cap to J.E. Skeets, Tas Melas and the rest of the crew at The Basketball Jones. They delivered A+ work from Dallas all week, and you should watch everything they did. It was fantastic. - Finally: haha, fuck you Spencer Hawes.  At the same time Hawes was watching women's college basketball, Dwight Howard was probably smoking pot in a jacuzzi while getting head from three different chicks at the same time. 100 points, black people.
