According to major league sources, the Chicago Cubs and Dye have interest in each other and have had preliminary talks.

No. We can't have this.
Why not just re-sign Dye, White Sox?
He once accepted less money to come to Chicago. How about repaying the favor by finding a few extra million in the budget for a one-year contract?
Now, I know Dye was terrible in the second half of last season. He OPS'd .551 in August, and .610 in September. And that's really bad. But in the first half of '09? .942 OPS! That's All-Star level production, and it's something seemingly everyone has forgotten now.
I'm not saying Dye is still a great hitter. He turns 36 at the end of the month, and 2010 could
be the last year of his career. But the Sox need a DH, and Dye can be had for cheap.
Moreover, we don't need stupid Cubs fans lobbing racial slurs at Dye from the bleachers every time he misplays a ball in right field. Every Cubs outfield needs to look exactly like Reed Johnson. Otherwise:
trouble. And Jermaine Dye is too classy for that type of trouble. Ain't that right, deer?
Bobby shouldn't be too upset...Dye is more of a Royal than anything else.
That deer looks like your typical Cubs fan. Dye must have considered it a mercy killing.
