The Bears Will Kill Us.

There have been bigger letdowns, there have been bigger failures, there have been sadder games. But tonight... tonight. If you, as a Bears fan, could watch that game without screaming at least three times, I applaud you and question your actual investment to this team.

If you'd like to buy low on Jay Cutler, right now's the time. I still support him. Still. The question I keep asking myself is, if I'm not going to jump off tonight, what will it take? We're on the verge of an onslaught of "he has bad body language and facial expressions!" stories. Hey, idiot morons, that's not what football is about. It's about what you actually do on the field.

Solace: you shouldn't expect this team to win any more games for the rest of the year. When they win two of the remaining games -- which they will -- you should find happiness based on these basement expectations.

Negativity: the Bears have yet to play the Vikings. This is a team so equipped to demolish the Bears it's almost laughable. If Jay Cutler doesn't throw at least three interceptions when they play at Minnesota, it's only because he probably got sacked before he could chuck the ball. Maybe we can hurt Favre though. This should be Bears fans' greatest aspiration for the rest of the 2009 season. I am 0% kidding.

Also, a huge "FU" goes out to Mike Singletary. I've never seen such respect for a coach who has done nothing in this league. But I guess that's what a big wooden cross, dangling stopwatch, and exponential quantities of bravado will buy you. Guess what? Your team sucks, too. Four years and 10 million dollars after going 5-4 last year. Now that's laughable.

The daunting angry double post. Watch out world.

Purdue must be a riot.

You're a joke. What a child. You're team is garbage and your quarterback is embarassing your pathetic franchise so you're taking shots at your opponent for LAST years record? That's all you can pull out? And I'm a diehard Dallas native and Cowboys fan so you KNOW I'm not sticking up for the miners. You just come off whiny and childish, all our teams I've been there. Get over it. You lost.

You're giving a "huge FU" to one of the greatest Bears of all-time because he happens to coach a different team, since the Bears never even considered him for a job?

Or because he coaches his team to play like he did? With passion and emotion and intensity? In other words, the anti-Lovie Smith.

I agree, grow the "F" UP. you gotta stop making excuses. This is a BELOW average football team. And as both a lifelong Bears fan, and lifelong football fan...I found myself subconsciously rooting for the better FOOTBALL team last night.

I am making no excuses for the Bears. When did that come close to happening?

I just think it's ridiculous that Lovie (who deserves to get bashed on for some things) gets bashed for "not showing emotion" on the sideline, yet just because Singletary delivers a good quote, people think he's a good coach.

Most of the coaching goes on when people aren't watching, and yes, it's possible to coach without showing much emotion. Both ways can work. And both guys could be good coaches. But Singletary has proven nothing yet. And yeah, I do find it frustrating that Lovie has that blank, Art Shell expression all the time, but it's not as big of a deal as people think.

The "FU" to Singletary wasn't meant to be delivered with any malice. It was more like something you'd tell your buddy when he's beating you in video games (like "oh fuck you, man!"). And I know how little sense that makes. Singletary was grating tonight. That's just an opinion.

I just think it's ridiculous that Lovie (who deserves to get bashed on for some things) gets bashed for "not showing emotion" on the sideline, yet just because Singletary delivers a good quote, people think he's a good coach.

I could not agree more. I may have made this point over the last three years, but if I haven't, I'm glad you did.

Fair enough.

But when a coach allows a team to commit as many penalties as the Bears do, be as undisciplined as the Bears are, and employs assistants as mind-blowingly retarded as Lovie Smith does, he doesn't deserve ANY praise. He's lost the team.

I just can't handle the ongoing lack of accountability (and tackling). And despite loving the Bears for 27+ years, I can't root for laundry. And, for me, there's NOTHING likable about this team.

I think Lance Briggs is about as likable as it gets. He's the anti-Urlacher.

Smith might be bad, but he did take them to the Super Bowl. I don't think that gives him a free pass for anything, but it is at least worth nothing. He obviously can't ride it forever, but at least he's shown something since he's been here. The Bears are in a rough spot with coaching and players though. I don't know if anything is going to fix this but some waiting. That last drive last night, with the penalty flags flying every other play... that was so, so hard to watch.

I was about to correct myself for not mentioning Briggs. What an animal.

you're a duesche...bring Ricky back from FCP

i wonder if lovie will ever get hired as a head coach after he's done with the bears.

Are we gonna end up giving the broncos a top 10 pick? they're gonna be able to draft a franchise qb and a good defensive player. what the fuck?

dont get me wrong, i'd never take that trade back, but come 2 years from now, people may be looking back on this a lot differently than they were before the season started

Agreed on all accounts. Singletary hasn't done enough to deserve too much praise as a head coach. The defense played inspired, which was a welcome sight. If Ron Turner is still the OC next season, we're going to be in big trouble.

I said this the moment I saw people hopping on the Cutler bandwagon 2-3 years ago. He's the 21st century Jeff George. You just can't hang your franchise on someone with immense natural talent, but piss poor football instincts.

And no, he's not a Baby Favre or poor man's Favre either like many seem to wanna think. He's more like a rich man's Rex Grossman at best.

The defense played "inspired" against a terrible offense, and one of the worst starting QB's in the league. The last two teams not from Cleveland put up over 80 combined points. Relax.
