Adding to the embarrassment, a fan in the left-field bleachers threw a
cup of beer on Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino in the fifth
inning and got away with it when the security guards nabbed the wrong
man.
While security was questioning a man who was taunting
Victorino after the soaking, the real culprit left the ballpark. The
Cubs are working with the Chicago Police Department
and plan to release a photograph of the beer-thrower from WGN-TV video
in hopes someone will identify him. The Cubs want to prosecute the
person to the fullest extent of the law.
Cubs general manager Jim Hendry called the Phillies' clubhouse during the game to apologize, and manager Lou Piniella offered an apology as well.
"That
shouldn't happen," Piniella said. "It's not good sportsmanship, not
good behavior. We apologize to Victorino and the Phillies."
Also fun: the last seven games, the Cubs have been outscored 53-26.
Go Cubs Go.
/Ken Griffey Jr. and Tony Pena don't exist to me right now.
Man, I can't even listen to that song as a joke (I tried). It, like, carves slits into my brain.

Sox game last night: I watched all 14 innings by myself. When there's that little scoring mixed with so much interesting defensive stuff/blunders going on. You develop this unreal attachment. I mean, it's really hard to live and die with losses in baseball -- there's just too many games -- but it happens a lot in basketball and all of the time with football. Last night was one of those times with the Sox. Just a bad, bad ending (on top of a fun/insane game to watch). Oh, and of course Griffey had to end it. He is so fat.
The hook for me was I thought it would be pictures of the team sucking (thus making it ironic). Even that wouldn't have been enough. It's just such an awful song.

I'm the one who posted the video and even I didn't listen to it.
