Several things.

And none of them are important.

But can you blame me? As was pointed out to me during last night's Home Run Derby by Gapers Block's Brian Livingston, there are only two days each year that feature zero professional sports games: yesterday and tomorrow. A fairly astute observation, especially for a man who loves the Cubs more than his mother. Don't think I'm joking.

1. Becks on the prowl

Josh Fields takes my advice. Literally.

Fields, who lost his starting job to Beckham, called over several media members, as well as Beckham, to let them know that he and Beckham would be taking the same flight to Atlanta for the All-Star break after the game but with one difference -- Fields was ''in Row 40-something'' and Beckham was flying first class.

Fields then joked that Beckham has taken his job and a better spot on the plane, so Fields has ''locked my wife away just in case ... she's all I got left.''

Beckham only could shake his head and try not to turn red.

Two words: 'BAMA BANGS. They're a bitch.

I'd like to add: Hey Josh Fields, cry me a goddamn river. You are terrible at everything. Everything.

2. Party with Thabeet

A few buddies and I are Facebook friends with Hasheem Thabeet, the No. 2 overall pick in last month's NBA Draft. Because we are awesome and hilarious, we always invite him to parties. Because he is also awesome and hilarious, he sometimes gives us the dignity of pressing the 'not attending' button, instead of, you know, flat out ignoring us like he should.

My friend, former roomie, and all-around TUP-hater Dan Hyland is currently trying to organize a field trip to see the Cubs take on the Cards in St. Louis in September. Naturally, Thabeet was on the guest list. After the jump, we have a screen shot from an actual Facebook message conversation. Please read it from top to bottom.

Follow the jump...

Yep. That happened.

3. As some of you may know, I'm currently trying to redesign this site. I've been at this for a while. For months, I badgered my friend Albe (good with Photoshop) to come up with something cool. No luck. He would only send me stuff like this.

Guns and money...sweet, Kev. But how 'bout a banner?

Yesterday, the man finally came through. He made something, something I thought looked fly. So I sent it out to my peeps. And no one liked it. "Too Vegas-y," they said. "Nintendo font", they said. "Looks like a sign on an 80's strip club", they said.

Wait, these are supposed to be considered criticisms!?

So back to ole' drawing board, I guess. Should have something new soon.

if albe ever runs for a political office, i'm blackmailing him with that picture

absolutely hilarious with Thabeet. I was in tears. Tell me that's true, but if not, funny nonetheless.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that someone would question that, but yeah, one hundo percent true.

hahahaha

"Friend requested"

Does that mean Thabeet has never officially accepted you as his facebook friend?

You're new advertisers have convinced me that I have heart disease.

We were friends? I thought? At one point?
