If this is the event that sparks a fatality filled Chitown-ATL beef, well, we won't forget where we were. Remember Gordon Beckham's entrancemusic? Me too. The hits have been coming and the 80s music has been blaring, but it looks as though there's recently been some swagger jackin' going on down South.
Gordon Beckham's personal anthem "Your Love" by the Outfield is being ripped off by at least one major leaguer.
The
Braves Kelly Johnson was recently struggling at the plate, so he asked
the team's PR staff to break out a little "Josie's on vacation far
away," and sure enough, Johnson got a hit, and broke out of his slump.
When Gordon heard of this, he gave Johnson a call, asking "what gives?"
After some friendly banter, Gordon says they agreed that Johnson could have the song played once a game.
But
Johnson isn't the only player trying to hit the ball out to the
Outfield. Gordon says that Sox minor league catcher Tyler Flowers tried
to steal Beckham's tune earlier this season as well.
Arizona's
Eric Byrnes is apparently walking to the plate to "Your Love" as well.
When I informed Gordon about this today, he said he was going to
investigate.
So, wait, did Beckham actually steal this from Byrnes first?!
There's going to be a lot more dirt uncovered before we start to get the answers we need. And it scares me to say this, but the truth could be ugly and painful.

Ironic, because, when it comes to the ladies, it seems like teenage girls are the most into him, haha.
And twenty-something men!
