Brett Favre will be coming back, and I couldn't be happier

by Ricky O'Donnell on May 6 at 3:53AM

We hate Brett Favre here. Hate him so much.

I always said I'd throw a rager the day Favre retired. It would be one of my happiest days as a sports fan. But upon realizing that the latest dose of Vikings rumors appear legit, I honestly couldn't be happier to have Brett Favre back in my life for one more year.

It's because he sucks.

And also because it'll make the NFC North even more bat-shit insane, when it was going to be crazy already.

Perhaps the best thing about this is how Favre feels so betrayed by the Packers for not letting him come back last offseason. Well - hey Brett! - maybe you should have realized that by waffling on the decision to play or not like you did the previous three offseasons, you were really pissing off a ton of people in Green Bay. You know, there's more to the franchise than just you. It left the Packers in a constant state of uncertaintly. Can you really blame Green Bay for wanting to move on after Favre finally called it quits officially? When he had hung them out to dry so many times before? You know, if Favre wouldn't have talked about retirement every offseason, and just said he wanted to play four or five or six more years, the Packers never would have drafted Aaron Rodgers in the first place.

Now Favre is going to Vikings, which is great because the Vikings are the Bears' toughest competition for a division title, and this probably makes them worse. Really, was Tav Jackson that bad? Ok, don't answer that. But he seriously didn't look so horrible at the end of last season.

The Vikings also signed the immortal Sage Rosenfels this offseason, which is funny because he's pretty much just a younger version of Favre. Not a young Favre, mind you, rather Favre now, just not old. I feel like every time he starts, Rosenfels is good for 380 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. After seeing how pathetic Favre was the final quarter of 2008, it wouldn't surprise me if Favre mirrored those numbers all the time this season. That is if Brad Childress lets him throw it enough. And he should (at least for our sake) because his running back is the best player in the league. And he probably will because he's a terrible coach.

Brett Favre. The man just makes me feel young and alive.

Why is it only the first week of May? The NFL needs to be here. Right now.

Again, this will end gloriously.

You and Shanoff both kind of have made this argument.. I'm kind of undecided. If he stays retired, I don't have to hear anything about him (but the speculation of him coming back will be terrible)... though, if he comes back, I'll hate seeing him all the time, but it really will cement him as the biggest idiot ever. I guess this is win-win, right? Or is it winlose-winlose?

So...Favre as a Viking? Really? I mean, I know that's the team he wanted to go to last season, but he's retired for good, right? I'm not so sure anymore.

Do I think Favre still has game? Absolutely. Do I think he is still starting quarterback material? Absolutely. My issue with Brett Favre is this: if you want to play, then play; if you want to retire, then retire.

I understand that people see last season as Brett's failure, but come on. Remember that the Jets finished 9-7 last season, and the only reason that they didn't make the post season was because of a couple of critical losses toward the end of the regular season. Losses that were not entirely Favre's fault. Let's not forget about the Jet's defense, or lack thereof. So it is entirely unreasonable to throw the entirety of the blame onto Brett's shoulders.

During Brett Favre's season with the Jets, he fulfilled the job description of an NFL quarterback: the scapegoat of his team.

I listen to all you people talking sh-t about Brett Favre and I wonder if you know football at all? Brett Favre causes some drama about retiring yes, but looking at statistics, 21st in the league over all 4 higher then the Superbowl winning QB Big Ben Roethlisberger. So until he decides he's done, You go Brett ! There are people who still believe the magic still exists and until no one wants you, keep playing!

One last thing, how good do you think Favre would have been leading the Cowboys last year?? Much better then Romo I'm sure! See the Jets had middle of the road recievers, I couldn't imagine the stats he would put up. Remember his receiving core in Green Bay was much better too and he was with those guys for years. A team needs a couple years together to become a team. Inserting a QB is not the answer, building the whole team is! Prime examples: Ben Roethlisberger, Trent Dilfer, both won Super Bowls with below par performances.

glad to see other Brett fans willing to stand up to the IDIOT who wrote this post. You are the kind of people that piss me off. You really dont know football. Brett is the greatest quarterback that played the game. He is amazing to watch, and easy to Love. And yes, he IS(WAS) the PACKERS. He embodied every excellent characteristic you can imagine. Give up on bashing him for not knowing if/when he wants to retire. That would not be an easy decision for a guy in his shoes. I know from experience of being a professional athlete that at the end of the season, your tired, you're ready for a break and after that many years in the league of course it would enter his mind... DUH. But as it does, after the off season, you itch to play again, because you LOVE it. Thats all he is guilty of really, is loving the game so much.
In my opinion the Packers management are the screwups. Brett put Green Bay back on the map after many years lost. GO Brett. Go to the Vikings. Play your heart out, and kick the Packers Asses. LOVE YA BRETT.

I am so excited that Favre might be back! I know that some people might be mad at all his indecision, but the guy can play man. Here is a cool article about why we should just be happy Favre is back, especially if you are a Vikings fan: https://www.mindreign.com/en/mindshare/Sports/Favre-is-Back-Again/sl40763392bp488cpp10pn1.html

OH... to all the dumb asses out there - who's talking now? Love Favre and as predicted, he is making the Vikings great. 6-0 BABY! All you nay sayers/haters, can eat your heart out. I love Brett - he is the most entertaining, talented QB out there. HE even made me a Jets fan (for one year anyway) CANT stand the Jets now- Hate the JETS! JETS SUCK - Coach Ryan is an ASS - Now am a VIKINGS fan all the way. Go BRETT. Love you now, will love you forever.
