Note to the Chicago Bears: Trade for Jay Cutler!by Ricky O'Donnell on April 1 at 12:01AM
First things first: Top ten Chicago numbers * The Denver Broncos stopped playing games with their unhappy quarterback. Jay Cutler is available in a trade. (I like how old people always make a big deal about throwing -gate at the end of any controversy, so we'll be doing it through the rest of this ordeal just to bother them.) A few things: a) It's good to see the Chicago media going nuts over this. Rightfully so. As we've been over once or twice, Erik Kramer and Sid Luckman hold nearly all of the Bears' passing records. One of those guys started his career in 1939, the other is Erik Kramer. Not good, as you can tell. The Bears neeeeeed Jay Cutler, and Jerry Angelo is under some heat right now after back-to-back disappointing seasons. Hopefully the pressure from the media and fans will make him grow a pair. b) I still don't really see how the Bears are going to get Cutler, unless they do something awesome like give up all of this year's draft or offer three No. 1's. You have to figure that a) around 15 teams are going to make serious offers, and b) the Broncos will probably want a quarterback in return. Would Orton suffice? Probably not. c) Player-for-player swaps rarely happen in the NFL, but how about this: Tommie Harris + a 1, 2, and 3 for Cutler. It seems like the Broncos are always after d-line help, and Harris may be the best tackle in the league if he could ever stay healthy. And Harris is still super young. That may be something Denver would consider, I think. d) The answer to Denver's problem seems easy: just fire Josh McDaniels. I understand that sets a terrible precedent, catering to a quarterback with a career losing record, but it seems better than the alternative. It's not going to happen, though. e) Though I really want him on the Bears, lets not forget that Jay Cutler is pretty much the bitchiest of little bitches (and fat! Or so I've been told). I really hope Pat Bowlen sent Cutler an email asking if he wanted cheese with that whine before announcing he's on the trade block. * As of 3:02 a.m. central time, TUP holds a 55-45 lead over the far better The Sports Hernia in the third round of the 'BEST SPORTS BLOG NAME TOURNEY'. Again, I want to win this so I can put it atop my resume. I think that'd be hilarious. So make it happen, team. |

The Bears will fuck this up. They will trade all of their draft picks and all will become immediate starters/pro bowlers/hall of famers for the Broncos and they will win four Super Bowls in a row...Cutler will get hurt in some freak accident involving a bag of ice, a baby pool, and a dog and will never be the player he was meant to be....THE END.
I think it would have to be a three way trade so that the Broncos end up getting a quarterback who is not Kyle Orton. Is there a team willing to give up a quarterback without getting one in return?
I fucking misread the headline and thought the Bears traded for him already and thought that you were the one breaking the story to me. I'm gonna read the rest of the story now and be pissed.
BAHAHAHA, "8"
I really was thinking "man, there's no way there's a better Chicago number than 23!"
Oh, but there was.
Ok, I thought that top ten list was good, but those bastards ripped me again! I thought everyone could appreciate a Dickey Simpkins punchline, but apparently not.
A few things. First off, I am all for the Bears trying to obtain Cutler. However, I don't think the demands are quite as high as you think.
Yes, they will certainly have to give up their first-round pick as well as either a second round or multiple other picks. But I don't think the eventual winner is going to necessarily have to give up a quarterback also. Or at least the Broncos shouldn't be expecting it, unless they are willing to get no better quarterback than Kyle Orton in exchange.
I say this because the only teams that are going to be wanting Cutler are teams that DON'T have a quarterback to begin with. So obviously teams looking for the trade are going to be teams with a crappy quarterback the Broncos would just feel is a waste or a roster space.
The team that acquires Jay is not going to give up ANY more than the first three picks of this year's draft, at the absolute most (or equivilant talent). So your Tommie for the first three picks is ludacris.
Right now Jay Cutler is dead weight to Denver. He is unusable. Absolutely worthless. This means he has less value than a happy Jay Cutler. And it isn't like the Broncos are going to have an auction for him. You can't do that in the NFL because of the guaranteed reluctance GMs in football have. Chances are the Broncos are going to take the best offer given to them of the first two or three offers.
And none of them are going to include a top three player in a position AND the first three picks of a respective team.
They can't fire a coach three months after they hired him. That looks so poorly on the organization. It would become the laughingstock of the league that a) a quarterback with a sub-.500 win percentage is calling the shots when it comes to coaching b) what coach would want to go there?
It is pretty obvious based on Angelo's track record that Cutler will not only not sign with the Bears, but that either the Vikings or Lions will get him just because Angelo is trying to get involved. He always screws things up or wakes up too late to even get a chance to get involved.
The Broncos will get a first and third round pick of this year's draft, tops (Or a player equivilant). They might get somebody's fourth round pick for next year too.
Nice ideas Ricky, I just don't think we see eye to eye on this draft stuff.
Nice TTCS list today though, I liked it.
Wow tough crowd in the Top Ten comments section.
For number 8 you should have included Carl 'Truth-asaurus' Everett.

Brady Quinn to Broncos
Jay Culter to Bears
Kyle Orton to Browns to back up Anderson
Broncos get Bears 1st and 3rd
Browns get Bears 4th
Make it happen JA
I hope that the Redskins are talking to the Bears about Jason Campbell in exchange for the second-round pick. I am content with that. I stand by my statement that I really can't see any team giving up two first-round picks for Cutler.
This will never happen for the bears period. When's the last time they've ever made a big splash in the offseason, Moose "I drop balls like lil weezy drops benjamins" muhamed? That shit worked... The only Chicago teams that seem to spend are the cubs and sox, bulls pay the wrong players (deng, hinrich, not Gordon?) and the bears are mismanaged by old retards that still feel that ditka was any bit a good coach(huge joke, buddy Ryan and walter/mcmahon ran that team). The bears are a joke and the mccaskies are too, if jerry jones owned the bears, the #6 would be retired at Halas hall by 2020
Thank u and I'm out, btw jay cutler no longer dates the girl I went to college with, but she's still hot
hey tom casey,
suck our balls, the bears got him
Donald Holman , say's Bottom line is ,in 2008 Bears defense was a big let down. Bears wide receivers always dropping passes. You cant blame kyle orton for lack of team work from everyone else. He went 9w. 7L. Over 2000 yards passing. For a team that sucked. That was pretty good for kyle orton . His rookie year , he went 12w. 4L. Then they made a mistake by playing rexgroosman instead of orton. That year would have been kyle ortons SUPER BOWL year. BOTTOM line is groosman sucks. AND, i still think kyle orton is still the man . Ihope kyle orton, goes on and whens a super bowl for the broncoes . Rex groosman should have been benched kyle orton should hve been the man all the time.
Donald Holman, say's , Kyle orton ,may not be the greatest. Ithink with the right team. He wins 2,or 3 superbowls. And i wish him the best of luck. With a team like last year no quarter backs going to do very good. if they would have picked up other players orton would have done well . With the same team as last year this trade is going to fail .
