Three things, and only two of them are important

1) Your main course for the day is probably the most legit top ten list I've done in a few weeks. Check out the top ten Chicago Super Bowl connections. Spoiler alert: it gets heavy on Cub bashing.

2) Del Negro Watch is officially on. Blow a few more on the West Coast - something the Bulls are prone to doing, as you may have heard - and VDN officially becomes a trivia question ("Who was Derrick Rose's first coach?"). Someone needs to take the fall for all the garbage this season, so it may as well be him. This team is a mess. They play no defense. The lineups have been shakey all season.

Really, it's more an indictment of John Paxson than anything - why isn't Mike D'Antoni coaching this team right now? - but he won't get canned in the middle of the year, so someone has to.

Plus, noted Bulls fan Kelly Dwyer has called him the NBA's worst coach several times this season on BDL. Good enough for me.

3) I had my first 'Business of Professional Sports' class today, and boy was it a party. After just one class, I'll say it's in the running to be the biggest joke of a course I've taken in three years at Columbia. This is no small feat, mind you.

In our first class today, the teacher went up the board and told us to shout out sports. Once the obvious ones got out of the way, people started yelling out crazy shit like NASCAR, poker, cheerleading, and the WWF. Seriously. Poker and the WWF. Sports.

Since the teacher (more on her in a sec) was writing down everything we were yelling at her, I had to go a little nuts. "Competitive eating! Jump rope! Monopoly! Forensic Science!". Then we went one by one and debated, as a class, whether or not each thing written on the board was, indeed, a sport.

After a heated discussion, the class - and teacher! - decided that, and I'm being 100 percent serious here, the fucking WWF was a sport. A sport! Are you kidding me? It's scripted!  And I think poker would have been put in the sport category too had I not finally spoken up and straighten everyone out.

To me, and probably anyone else with even half a brain, something is a sport if it's a) a competition and b) involves athleticism. Pro wrestlers are athletes be to be sure, but the outcome is fixed so of course it's not a sport. When I mentioned my criteria during the ragin' poker argument, some people still thought I was crazy.

"Dude, poker's on ESPN, that means it's a sport".

Sorry, but if poker is a sport, then I don't feel remotely bad for shouting out Monopoly. Same thing, pretty much.

Also this teacher, who is apparently Luther Head's agent, is a woman who looks like she could be a ball hawking free safety in the NFL right now. Think Bob Sanders...only half a foot taller.

I felt like everyone needed to know that. Now go read the top ten list.

Haha my brother gave me a more brief rendition of the class by calling it something along the lines of "a class with no structure and is absolute insanity" haha I laughed out loud in a lab today reading this.

Yeah, WWE is probably sports entertainment, not a sport.

As a double major (journalism/health and sports studies) at Iowa, I took my fair share of classes like this. Plenty of "sport or no sport" debates mixed with mind numbing activities mixed with random watching of sports movies. In one, we watched "Basketball."

If the WWF, now called the WWE (World Wreslting ENTERTAINMENT), and poker are indeed classified as sports in the Columbia College-Chicago class you're in, than why couldn't we go as far to say that:
Speed-Smoking-at-the-front-door-to -the-600-south-michigan building and Having-Sexual-Relations-with-an-Instructor-at-the-South Loop Club is to.

If these aren't considered sports, cheerleading, NASCAR and the WWE are all out.

Basketball: sport.

haha, i just realized we both wrote basketball when we meant BASEketball.

Yeah, how'd we both mess that up? I just now realized that, too.

I guess I didn't learn as much in my fake classes as I thought I did.
