A few Wednesday linksby Ricky O'Donnell on November 26 at 1:54AM
I make my triumphant return to Top Ten today, complete with pot shots directed at nearly all of my coworkers. Witness the top ten Chicago disappointments of 2008. Hester is No. 1, though Chaz Weis made a strong push late. Make sure to check back next week when we break down Jack Cobra's top ten greatest hits. - My roommate's BFF starts at guard for Ball State, so I suppose congrats are in order for Cardinals after they polished off Western Mich. yesterday to secure an undefeated regular season. I actually know their punter a little bit too, who you may remember from Deadspin fame. How they turned around that program from the worst D-1 school ever to BSC darkhorse is beyond me. It probably has something to do with Nate Davis, though. Kid has some kind of arm. I can't remember a Ball State player ever getting drafted in the first round; maybe he'll be the first. - God, I love Sam Smith: LeBron to the Bulls in 2010! - Smith on Michael Beasley: Beasley has been a horror on defense, worse than your typical rookie, and Heat coach Erik Spoelstra didn't play him in the fourth quarter in four of the last five games before Beasley finished Saturday. Beasley, in foul trouble virtually every game, has taken it well and admitted he never played one-on-one defense in his life nor ever attempted to take a charge.Remember when people actually thought that Rose-Beasley was something worth arguing over? Good times. For the record, TUP was pro-Rose the entire time. - Honestly, Barack Obama - assuming, you know, he actually proves to be a good prez - is on the fast track to becoming one of my favorite humans ever, possibly joining MJ, Will Smith, Simmons, Matt Skiba, Hester, and D-Rose. He's just too cool for words. Eat your heart out, Beau! - Did anyone else catch Chicago Hoops Night on ESPN yesterday? Sherron Collins (Kansas), Mike Dunigan and Matt Humphrey (Oregon), and Bobby Frasor (UNC) were all on display. LeBron called New York the "Hoops Mecca of the World" yesterday, but now that our pro team has a true superstar, how far behind is Chicago? If only DePaul could get their act together. Dar Tucker can't do it alone, yo. - SouthSideSox has a nice little offseason preview up, ominous as it is. It talks about the Sox' desire to trade JD, which I would only be favor of if it brought back some super young talent, which seems unlikely. I just hope JD isn't traded for 75 cents on a dollar. As esteemed commenter Mike brought to my attention recently, why not use JD as Thome's DH replacement in 2010? He's arguably been the Sox best player over the last four years. I'd love to see him on the South Side as long as possible. - More 2010 talk: SML is back with a vengeance with a some interesting Knicks thoughts. - I probably won't post tomorrow, considering Thanksgiving is the only holiday I really enjoy, and I'll probably spend most of my non-eating time tomorrow drawing up plays for our Turkey Bowl on Friday. So a happy Thanksgiving to everyone. And remember kids, don't drive drunk and kill someone on Black Wednesday. Oh yeah, and get your picks in for TUP NFL Pick Em' since there are tons of games tomorrow. |

Ricky, my man, Notre Dame a Chicago team? Come on now, I think you're really stretching it there
Really? Do we really need to do this debate again? Why would both major newspapers cover ND like they do? ND IS Chicago's college football team. It's fact. You may not like it, but it is undeniable.
Is your name Ricky? No, so mind your own business
I think you fail to comprehend the point of the comment section in a blog
haha right, since I was specifically addressing the man that wrote it I must be talking to you too right?, the guy that I can give a shit less what he thinks or says.
Man, you are rough and tough. I just made a comment on your rather short sided one. No need to go all jerkoff on me. Relax, it's Thanksgiving.
If I was "going jerkoff" I would comment how your loser blogging ass was commenting at 9:00 pm on Black Wednesday when all of us jerkoffs who think your opinion is completely worthless are at the bar, or actually working. So dish out the excuses while I go RELAX with my turkey dinner.
I don't think i have to defend myself on this one but you brought it up..
Yes, it was 9PM. Yes, there was a party at my apartment and I stole a few minutes to check my buddy Ricky's blog, because, you know, I like what he writes. Did I return to the party, go out and bring home a lady friend? Guilty on all accounts.
I'm sure you had a lovely night as well, but i can guarantee it ended up with you limp dick in your hand, wondering where you went wrong.
If taking two minutes to look at a blog at 9pm at night makes me a tool, well then i am a tool. But then again i got my rocks off in a chick. So, i guess, i will take that over a night of rubbing my my dick raw with my left hand.
you are a flaming douche.
hahaha now everyone knows you are completely full of shit, way to fall into that trap
wow your mom must be easy.
Yeah, I don't know. But both major newspapers cover ND, so I guess that's why I included them. Plus whenever you can bash Charlie Weis, you have to take advantage of that.
I can see how since so many Chicagoans love the Irish, but the way I look at it is if the team doesn't have Chicago in front of the name, its not a Chicago team. This just stems from my hate of ND and passion for Chicago sports.
I consider Notre Dame a Chicago team because they get covered here in the papers. I also include any team listed on the old Comcast Chicago website colleges page (now defunct). This list included...
UIC
DePaul
Northwestern
Iowa
Illinois
Purdue
Notre Dame
Bradley?
...and probably a few others I'm forgetting.

stopmikelupica, on who we should draft: Derrick Rose, really? Wow, you guys want to pass up Michael Beasley, especially when you already have a decent point?!?
Take Beasley - you guys haven't had a low-post presence in years. He's like a young Elton Brand. Why would you pass him up, just so you can trade Hinrich at 20 cents on the dollar?
Haha, Beasley.

JD Foreva!
The most underrated part of that post is when I said I was stuck at work and that I'd have to wait to do my Rose post until the next day or 4 AM...and I published my post at 3:57 AM.
Never attempted to take a charge? That's all I try to do on the basketball court.
All I try to do on the basketball court is jack up threes. I'm like a poor man's Janerro Pargo.
You are going to have a difficult time finding my 'top ten'. That being said, let me know when you do so I can print it out, frame it and give it out as holiday gifts.
This comment sections has been testy this week!
Yea like those testis in your mouth.
That was fun to do... have a good one boys...
once again...you're a douche
