Bearly Revelant: Week Seven, with first place on the line

by Ricky O'Donnell on October 17 at 4:26AM

Keeping in line with what has turned out to be the least productive week in TUP history, here's a totally mailed in version of the Friday Bears column.

The spread

Bears -3

Around the web

Big Daddy Drew: "That’s two games in a row now where the Vikings have won because of a pass interference call. The first one, against the Saints, was valid. The second one, against the Lions, was one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen. It’s time to make pass interference eligible for review. It’s way overdue. Everyone keeps saying it’s a subjective call. Fine. That may be in some cases.

But it isn’t a subjective call when it’s clear to anyone with a brain that the defender didn’t interfere, as it was last week. Have enough confidence in the officials to let them reverse a judgment call like that. Give them their fucking balls back. These are huge fucking chunks of yardage we’re talking about here, severe penalties that really do cost teams games. You have to give coaches some kind of recourse for that.

Otherwise, teams will just keep chucking the ball at the end of games and hope to get a lucky, irreversible flag. In fact, this constitutes the entirety of Brad Childress’ playbook, along with “Pass #1” and the rarely used “Pass #2”."

PK: "Chants of "Fire Childress'' fill the Metrodome air, no Minnesotan knows his quarterback of the future, and we're only 11 days removed from leaving the Vikings for dead at 1-3. How nutty is it, then, that a win at Soldier Field this week -- which I don't believe is in the cards, but who knows in this nutty league -- could give Minnesota sole possession of first place in the NFC North at 4-3?"

ESPN's experts agree

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM PICKED THE BEARS

/this is a terrible, terrible sign.

Key to the game: Don't let this happen again.

Matchup Bears should win

Brian Urlacher vs. Gus Frerrotte

Matcup Bears should lose

Antoine Winfield vs. Marty Booker

The Bears win if

They get an early lead

The Bears lose if

The offense has trouble scoring against a good Minnesota D

In the end

I believe this is a song about anorexia, right?

Haha, Ana's Song. Yeah, it is. It's about the singers battle with it, I believe.

Looking at the box score reinforces my already high belief of how awesome Griese is/was.

Ugh, Griese sucks.

More importantly, everyone, get your picks in for the pick em' league.
