TUP: where hyperbole happens

by Ricky O'Donnell on October 31 at 4:35AM

As has been previously detailed, the Bears always kick ass when I decide not to go nuts writing a Friday preview. I had to work super late last night and I’m busy with school and other blogs….so I think I’m going to sit this one out again. Besides, no one needs to tell you that the Bears are going to wreck the Lions this weekend. Orlovsky won’t know what hit him.

I feel the need to point out something else, however.

TUP’s recaps after the first game of any new season are about 4,000% hilarious. I thought Stompy was totally over the top with his Bulls post on Wednesday, but it actually fit right in line with what I pretty much always do.

Take my first Sox column at Beachwood for instance. It gives us this gem:

Swisher is the White Sox's best player, a fact that seems relatively clear to everyone, even if he's only been on the team for one week.

Man, I sure am glad I waited four whole games into a seven month season before throwing that one out there. Oh, and Nick Swisher’s final season statistics: .219, 24 homers, 135 K’s. Horary for small sample size!

Then there was the Bears, who I spent the entire offseason bashing so much you may have thought they employed Ben Gordon. But after a huge Week 1 win over the Colts…

The Bears: Screw everyone, we are awesome (link)

Check in next April when Alexei Ramirez begins the 2009 White Sox season with a leadoff homer. Until then, not much to see here.

Before he's played a game, everyone realizes how good Derrick Rose is

by Ricky O'Donnell on October 27 at 10:43PM

I've gone back and fourth on whether or not I think it's important that Rose starts opening night. I originally thought it was no big deal; the Bulls have lots of quality guards and if Del Negro didn't want to...
