Cover it Live rules, Javy Vazquez does not

by Ricky O'Donnell on September 24, 2008 at 12:15AM

Really, Game One was over before it even began, right?

The scenario:

Ozzie challenges Javy...

''He hasn't been [a big-game pitcher], that's the bottom line.''

And Javy's response...

''You know what? It's not going to [change a lot of opinions] because I'm really the type of guy that when I retire, I'm going to be home in Puerto Rico with my family.''

I like Javy Vazquez (strikeouts = cool) but after following that quote with THAT performance....I bet he's in another uniform next season. I don't believe running away to Puerto Rico constitutes "Chicago Tough".

Let's get em' tonight, ey?

Your pitching matchup is Mark Buehrle vs. Nick Blackburn.

As I said at Beachwood on Monday, all the Sox have to do is win one. So, uh, let's do that.

Top ten toughest places for Chicago teams to play

Almost forgot: our first ever live blog was fairly successful, I must say. Thanks to Connor, Beau, Mike, Scott, Stompy, Paulie, and Kyle for hanging out. We'll do it again here sometime soon.

I partake in Cover it Live action for every Bears game at the Sun-Times, so check that out if you want. It's not nearly as much fun- there aren't any poll questions about 1080 Snowboarding or NOFX, discussions of strip clubs or, uh, Jake Christenson, or vids of little kids getting hurt- but it's still a good time. Watching Kevin and Kyle try to one up each other in wittiness is reason enough to attend.

(By the way, check out Kevin's video, where he gets the reaction of the people after the Cubs clinched the division. I think we should start doing stuff like that. The world needs to see this wonderfully pale face. Who wants to come with me to Wrigleyville in two weeks to videotape me asking Cubs fans how it feels to get swept by the Phillies?)
