Note to self: take out the exclamation points and question marks later

This could be our first chance to scoop FanHouse and ESPN, so I have to take it. Apparently, a deal to send the coolest player of the 90s to the White Sox has been made. My information is coming from a bunch of real job friends who heard it on the radio, and also on Fox's national morning show (on Fox News). No word on who else was involved with the trade. I'm going back to sleep.

If this was 1996, we'd all be going insane. But even though it's 2008, I feel like a lot of people are still going to be pretty happy. I mean, it's Griffey, man. We'll have to see who we gave up -- I think -- before making any real decisions on this move. And that's if the move actually happened, though I think it did.

Upgrade, but will Ozzie really sit Konerko? Will they platoon them? Can Ken really play CF or 1B? Who will? Where will Swish play? Food for thought.

He looks even better over the last 28 days (28 is arbitrary, I wanted 30 but that's what I found first) .263/.391/.553/.944.

And Griffey CAN NOT play CF. He is an absolute butcher. He is an absolute butcher in RF as it is right now. If you put Grif and Dye next to each other in the outfield, Frank Thomas could easily hit at triple against the Sox.

I feel like there has to be another move coming.

You jackass you beat me to it!

Totally agree with Jeeves that Grif can't play CF- I forced myself out of bed to add that insightful analysis. The trade better be for someone like Egbert or Poreda or i'll be a little pissed. Grif is a utility OF on Sox pretty much (which I actually think is fine at this point of his career).

In conclusion: I'm buying a jersey t-shirt. God, my all-time fav baseball player, on the Sox....

I mean Broadway not Poreda (it's early). Poreda and Fields are the only guys I hope they didn't deal.

Thank God. I was going to say Poreda is way too much. I think Egbert is way too much. If they trade Egbert, I will break something. I think Lance would be fine, anything better and Jeeves' will have to do some ranting.

It's funny, because I had to drag myself out of bed to put some analysis forth as well. Got a text, and the suprise of its details was enough to get me out of bed

OK, if Griffey is a utility guy, I'm fine with this trade. But Griffey cannot be the everyday CF under any circumstances. He can platoon there occasionally, I suppose, and also with Paulie, Thome, and occasionally Q! and JDizzle. Then it's fine.

Massett has been pretty good this year, but I think everyone was shocked by his performance. He could easily regress. Richar is OPS'ing 744 in AAA, he isn't that big of a loss. Getz is probably the Sox 2B next year anyways.

this trade scares the living shit out of me. Not because I don't like it, it's that we didn't upgrade our pitching.

This feels a lot like the 2004 Cubs/Nomar trade. A lot of hype over an over-the-hill former All-Star when pitching was ignored.

And we all know how that turned out

Scott, really, how the fuck were the Sox supposed to upgrade the pitching? There were zero quality starters available, and the last thing you want to do is overpay for someone who won't be that much of an upgrade in the first place. The Sox roto is fine. Javy will be better. The only question mark is Jose, but he won't be necessary in the playoffs. Besides, how many teams have fifth starters better than Jose in the first place. The bullpen will be better once Linebrink comes back as well. Look, the Sox have the pitching- the guys just need to step up.

Here's my reaction to the Griffey trade on Full Court Press. Read, please.

Huh? Another Sox chat turns into a Cubs bashing event...get over it. The Cubs have nothing to do with the Sox. Pathetic.
