Even though it means ESPN will talk about nothing but Brett Favre for the next four days, baseball's All-Star break should be welcomed by everyone involved- including the fans. As I wrote on Beachwood, the White Sox played pretty much as well as anyone could have hoped coming into the season, and while they still have some legit concerns (Contreras, Floyd, Konerko), I still feel confident that they'll win  the Central by five games. Minnesota isn't that good- just check out the run differentials- and Detroit likely won't have the starting pitching to make a huge run. So let's take a nice four day baseball break (of course no one is actually watching the All-Star Game, right?), and then get ready for what is sure to be an exciting second half for the Sox.

Over at The Fantasy Factor, Matt and I have started our fantasy football team previews. We are going to run through every team (as you can see, Olsen kicked things off today with a bang), and then get to some player rankings and mock draftings.

I just found out the Cubs actually drafted Josh Hamilton but sold him for 100,000.....if they had him right now, holy shit

The Rayz drafted him and the Cubs picked him up in the Rule V draft (after the drugs) and yes, then the Cubs traded him for $.

Floyd a problem??? Are you kidding me? He has won 10 games and has an ERA of 3.63. Please do not tell me that Floyd is a concern because he is a "lucky" pitcher. Sometimes you just have to look past complicated information and just look at the basic stats. This is why I think Sabermetrics is horseshit, because it gets intelligent baseball fans like you telling people that they should have to worry about a teams #2. So furious.

Zach I could be wrong but the Cubs I do not believe had ANY intention at all on keeping Hamilton, but the Reds simply paid the Cubs to jump spots in the Rule V. Like I said I could be wrong but I thought I heard that one time.

Phil you are correct, the Cubs had no intention of keeping J-Ham because of rule 5 rules. They would have had to have kept him on their opening day roster and at the time they did to want to make that commitment. In baseball you cannot trade or switch draft picks, but Beau is right about the trade....Beau all i was saying it was the rule 5 draft and not the first year draft, semantics, but you are correct...
