The big story of the game happened right after Jim Thome knocked in Orlando Cabrera for the go-ahead run in the 8th. The previous at-bat, Cabrera stole third base and Jermaine Dye struck out. Dye was apparently unhappy that Cabrera would take a base without notice and Dye thought it distracted him at the plate. Here’s Jeeves' take from Life in the Cell:
I realize things get heated in sports and arguments happen, but it seems like such a weird thing to argue over when the end result was something good. My initial thought was that maybe JD has a clause in his contract where he makes more money by making the All-Star team, but unfortunately Cot’s as well as MLB4u don’t mention anything; they don’t mention any clauses so it’s still a possibility. If there is no such clause, I can’t think of what the big deal was.
As has been stated before, JD is a TUP fav, but it seems like everyone agrees he was wrong this time. I doubt this will spill over into tonight's game, because I feel like Ozzie is pretty good at handling these situations.
With Toby Hall getting the start at catcher, Nick Swisher hit second, and scored twice thanks to a pair of homers by the incomparable Carlos Quentin. We all thought Swisher would be a middle of the order power hitter when Kenny Williams traded for him, but it hasn’t happened so far. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though: the Sox have so many middle of the order run producers, maybe the second slot in the lineup is a good place for Swish to be. Not that AJ Pierzynski has done anything to lose his hold there, but Swisher is certainly a viable option when AJ needs a day off.

Right because obesity is the only reason pitchers go on the DL. Because Rich Harden, he sure is a fat fuck, as is Mark Prior.
Wow, take offense. Of course that's not the only reason, but it sure isn't helping.
All I am saying is it would probably be better for him, you know, as a professional athlete to get in better shape...
We are very defensive the last couple days.
I hate to admit this but the Sox should of been swept this series. They stole those first two games. It kind of worries me.
Absolutely agree. Choosing to ignore it, though.
I mean, they did come out of it at their highest above .500 yet.
Don't comment with other people's names. Obviously every great super hero (me, clearly) needs a villain (dubs). By the way, I haven't been awake this early since high school.
The Sox are actually good, but I'm not sure if anyone realizes it yet. They're going to win this division by 5+ games easy.

Remember when we were sitting in the Sun-Times and I said that Jenks was getting too fat and that he would be on the DL...
