But first, read an epic version of the Sox Report over at Beachwood. This time, it's comes compete with zero discernible baseball analysis. Just the way they like it.

No one should have too strong of an opinion either way yet on Vinny Del Negro. After all, the man has never coached anything in his life. Has this ever happened in professional sports before? A guy gets a head coaching gig without ever coaching in college or being an assistant? I can’t think of anyone. But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad hire.
Throughout this entire process, Pax talked about how he needed to find someone he connected with in terms of basketball philosophy. I’ve stated my disgust for that philosophy all offseason, but, remember, the Bulls were set to give the gig to Mike D’Antoni, whose basketball philosophy is the exact opposite of Paxson’s. So we don’t know what we’re getting with Del Negro. He could be a grind it out defensive coach, or an uptempo, floor spacing kind of guy. No one knows. Because he hasn’t ever coached before…
As someone mentioned in the comments on Blog-a-Bull, at least Vinny Del Negro doesn’t have a long history of poor basketball decisions. I’m ready to give this guy a shot. After all, he can’t be any worse than Jim Boylan.

Also, um, big news coming tomorrow.

This is a bad joke. This is due diligence? Vinny D isn't going anywhere. Why not wait until after the finals and interview Thibodeau?
He may turn out to be a stellar coach. It doesn't make this move any less irresponsible.
