If you're a Bears fan between the ages of, oh, say 10-24, you don't know the NFL without the evil that is Brett Favre. This age bracket, who was either not born or barely alive when the Bears won the Super Bowl in 1986, has had their hearts crushed and crushed by Brett Favre and his green and gold empire growing up. While, in recent years, the C-Bears began to get the best of Favre, this year's resurgence reminded all of us that you can never truly count him -- or his fawning media -- out of the picture. Growing up with Brett Favre was like having Santa Claus shit under your tree every Christmas.

Today, that era is finally over. (God, I hope.)

Brett Favre: He Gone!

UPDATE: Spare thoughts about the Favre exodus...

1) This ESPN coverage is killing me.

2) Reasons I don't like Farve:

- He's held the Pack hostage for the last 4 years, which I find incredibly and unjustifiably selfish. Seriously, they could have used the Rodgers pick a few years ago to help the team win now (using it on defense or another skill position on offense), but, instead, they built for the future and Favre -- who caused the pick in the first place with his indecision! -- had the audacity to get mad at the talent-level of the Packers.

- His alcoholism almost ruined his marriage. What the hell? How do people never know and/or talk about this?

- The pain killer addiction that a) nobody talks about, and b) easily could have contributed to his consecutive games started streak. Again, NEVER or rarely addressed by mainstream media.

- His blatant retirement after Randy Moss was resigned by the Patriots. Seems kind of like an "FU" to the Green Bay front office to me.

3) I found Favre likable for a period, when the team started to get worse, but It faded during the resurgance. Still, his "There's Something About Mary" cameo will always be a high point for me.

4) The worst sport memory of my entire life? Favre running around on the field  with his helmet off after he threw his 1st TD in the Super Bowl against the Pats. It makes me want to kill everything.

5) Something I find incredibly relevant: the man won one Super Bowl. Just remember that if analysts are ever giving him the superlative of "best ever."

Well said. I think it's seriously impossible for anyone around our age to like Favre. I've been waiting for this day for years, I may just celebrate by skipping class. Go Bears.

Oh God if Favre comes back now I might do something regretful.

And Favre isn't even one of the five best qb's ever. People are stupid.

I'll celebrate in a Brett Farve fashion, over dosing on vicodin. He'll be back next year. He's that big of a douche bag.

Excellent commentary about Brett Favre, esp. the comment about the shit under the Christmas tree. I get tired of the love fest for a selfish QB who puts his personal statistics and glory ahead of his team.
