Is it just me or was what we witnessed Sunday the least entertaining football game of all-time? Congrats Bears, you barely beat the Raiders, a team that has now lost five straight and still employs- and starts- Robert Gallery. Sure, it’s a game they needed to win and the Bears found a way to get it done, but the difference from last years conference champs to these assholes is like night and day. It’s actually somewhat impressive that they’re now 4-5 for how pathetic they’ve played all season.

Let’s talk about the good stuff first: my dog Grossman got back on the field and actually played pretty decent. Mad props goes out to Ron-Ron for letting him chuck all over the field and not trying to turn him into Brad Johnson ,or some shit. I think Griese going down was the first time I’ve been excited all season. Rex didn’t play great, but at least the offense moved the ball a little. The touchdown pass to Berrian was picture-perfect, and the first long pass to Muhammad wasn’t shabby either. Grossman missed a lot of easy passes too, but I’ll chalk that up to rust because he hasn’t played since the Dallas game. Let’s see what he can do next week (he’s gotta start, right?) against a somewhat competent Seahawks defense.

Other positives the Bears D shutting down a lifeless Raiders offense. Good, that’s what should happen. And how great was the O-Gun. As my old man said, that’s the player the Bears thought they were getting all along. The awful Oakland offensive line had no chance against Adewale, Tommie Harris, and the boys.

But the problems that have plagued the Bears all year still affected them on Sunday. Cedric Benson is completely useless. 2.6 yards per carry just won’t get it done, especially for a team that can’t really throw the ball. Maybe I should do a ‘Who will be the Bears running back next year’ post. Michael Turner, anyone?

This Bears team is so disappointing it’s not even funny. I really thought they would dominate people this year, but it just isn’t happening. Not even the triumphant return of Rex Grossman could make happy after this one, and they actually won. In a related story, what a shitty period in Chicago sports. It looked awesome as of February, now the Sox are the laughing stock of the major leagues, the Bulls are ok but have shown they can’t handle expectations thus far, and the Bears are just worthless. It’s enough to make a humble sports blogger sick to his stomach.
