kobe-bryant-bulls.jpg
I don't want to write this post, but I feel like I'm obligated at this point. I never thought the Bulls had any chance of ever landing Kobe, but the media pressure has gotten so intense recently, that ESPN even fabricated a story about Kobe clearing out his locker.

Will Kobe get traded? I still believe there is about a 1% chance it happens. But if Bryant is dealt, there is no doubt that the Bulls will be on the short list of teams who have a shot at acquiring him.

I'm going to do this quick because I don't feel like the story is worth wasting time on (when we should be talking about how bad Brandon McGowan is). Here it goes: the Bulls would be retarded not to get Kobe at all costs. He's the best player on the planet- who's on the right side of 30- and no one else in the league is even close. I'm only 20 years old, but he's the second best player I've seen, and that's coming from someone who grew watching MJ. Watching Kobe the past few years, I really don't know why people (not just Bulls fans) get so angry when others wonder if he's better then Jordan. In my mind, he isn't (again, I have a huge bias), but Kobe is certainly good enough to lend merit to the subject. Bryant might be one of the ten best players of all-time right now, and there's no telling how high he'll climb up that list when his playing days are over. I believe he'll probably be the second greatest basketball player who ever lived. Why wouldn't you do anything in your powers to get that guy on your team?

The Bulls certainly have the assets to do it. That was the whole point of stockpiling all these high draft picks in the first place wasn't it? For all I care, trade Deng and Gordon to get him. Even throw in your choice of Tyrus or Noah along with some draft picks. Bulls fans don't want to see this young team get broken apart, but you know what, Kobe is that good. I think Gordon sucks anyways, and he'd be irrelevant with Kobe here in the first place, so losing him is no big deal. Deng is a different story. He's a great guy, and a very good basketball player, but for Kobe Bryant, I'm sorry, he can go.

The reason Kobe is so great is because of his intensity and competitiveness- of the players I've ever watched (and I'm sort of a basketball junkie) only MJ tops him and only KG is even in the same ball park. Kobe is a complete asshole. But you know what, so was MJ. Jordan was the biggest asshole of all-time, just ask Scott Burrell or Luc Longley, or read Ronald Lazenby's "Blood on the Horns" (which I highly recommend). The reason MJ was so much better then everyone else was because he didn't give a shit about anything or anyone- all he cared about was winning. Being an asshole is what separates the simply great basketball players from the legends. Kobe is at that level. He's the only guy in the NBA you can fully trust taking the last shot- if you eliminate his name from the question it might take you ten minutes to think of the #2 guy in that situation. Arenas? Wade? Yeah they're good, but they're not Kobe.

I feel as if this entire rant was irrelevant, but what do I know. Kobe bitched all summer, as he should have, to get more talent around him, and the ever so incompetent Mitch Kupcheck got him...(wait for it)....Derrick Fisher. If I'm him I would have freaked out too.

Quick recap for those who don't like to read my long diatribes: the Bulls should do anything to get Kobe, but I think there is no shot in hell he'll get traded. Let's go back to talking about why we hate Cedric Benson now. It's far more constructive.

Man, I hate Cedric Benson.

I'm anti-any trade for Kobe involving Deng. I think Pax is too, though. All other trade scenarios would probably be good by me.

Right, I don't see Pax parting with Deng either. I wouldn't want him to, but I it'd be a smart move basketball wise Luckily, all of the trade scenarios i've been seeing lately don't have Luol involved. Can you imagine Deng and Kobe? Deng sort of has to be the Bulls best player this year, which he'll eventually grow into, but as a number 2 option, Deng would be fantastic.
