October 2007 ArchiveI'm being Dragon Tarlac for Halloweenby Ricky O'Donnell on October 31 at 3:28PM
![]() Well ladies the day is finally here, opening night. The NBA kicked off last night with a crazy Rockets/Lakers game, and the Bulls open up tonight at New Jersey. The Nets have given the Bulls a ton of problems in the past, and a lot of people think New Jersey might be one of the three best teams in the East. Noah and Ben Wallace are out indefinitely to make matter worse. I guess that means we get an extra helping of Aaron Gray tonight. Tough way to open up a season. But this is the Bulls predictions post for everyone. How many wins, how far are they going in the playoffs, do they pull off a midseason trade for good ole' #24, and is this the year Johnny Red Kerr finally dies during a broadcast? Anything is fair game, get all those Bulls predictions out right now. Fearless NBA predictionsby Ricky O'Donnell on October 30 at 1:40AM
In the final chapter of our four part NBA preview, here are some things to look for as the NBA gets underway.Previously: team power rankings, player rankings, Bulls preview- A team that could surprise people: the Memphis Grizzlies. They were...
Good Brian or Bad Brian: Does it even matter?by Ricky O'Donnell on October 29 at 3:17AM
If Brian Griese is going to throw three backbreaking interceptions in the endzone, why is he even playing. He’s as inconsistent as Grossman, and he has zero upside. His lows are as bad as Rex and his good games pale...
Bulls season previewby Ricky O'Donnell on October 26 at 3:24PM
No player symbolizes this Bulls team quite like Ben Gordon- spectacular at times, but too flawed to ever be considered a star. When Gordon struggled offensively last season, or when he wasn’t on the floor, the Bulls simply couldn’t score....
Big Ten Rambler, Week 9: Yours and Mineby Bobby Stompy on October 26 at 2:03PM
An Iowa student with a Michigan bias -- and Wazzu ties, too -- breaks down the Big Ten conference with attempted objectivity, week by weekMy original title for this week's edition was "Week 9, Feelin' Fine," and I think that...
Trent Dilfer holds our fateby Ricky O'Donnell on October 25 at 5:56AM
As if the Patriots and Cowboys being the class of their respective conferences wasn’t bad enough, remember this: they both could have top five draft picks next year. New England’s video taping shenanigans got their own first rounder taken away,...
TUP NBA Top 50by Ricky O'Donnell on October 23 at 2:20PM
I love Hollinger as much as the next basketball fan, but come buddy, Yao is not the best player in the NBA. Forget PER, this is the TUP top 50 NBA player rankings. I plan on checking back on these...

The Grease-Man gets it doneby Ricky O'Donnell on October 22 at 3:32AM
Let's start out giving credit where credit is due: Brian Griese played a damn good game. I'll be the first to admit that after McNabb's touchdown pass to Schobel, I did not think the Bears would come back to win...

Blame Ron Turnerby Ricky O'Donnell on October 18 at 6:53PM
Note: I wrote this column for my sports reporting class earlier today, so it's a little more professional (I guess) then the usual tomfoolery you get from this site. Believe it or not, Rex Grossman wasn't always such a scrub....
I don't want to talk about this, but you probably doby Ricky O'Donnell on October 18 at 3:07AM
I don't want to write this post, but I feel like I'm obligated at this point. I never thought the Bulls had any chance of ever landing Kobe, but the media pressure has gotten so intense recently, that ESPN even...
The risky business of contract extensionsby Ricky O'Donnell on October 17 at 4:20AM
The Bulls have been pretty good at locking up their young players coming off their rookie contracts so far. Kirk Hinrich signed an extension for around $47 million the season before his rookie deal expired, and the Bulls resigned Andres...

At least I have Adrian Peterson in fantasy footballby Ricky O'Donnell on October 14 at 11:38PM
Where, exactly, was the great Brian Urlacher in that one? He only had five tackles and didn't make a big play the entire game. It's a little weird that a future first ballot Hall of Famer in the prime of...
Big Ten Rambler, Week 7: Role Reversalby Bobby Stompy on October 12 at 1:56PM

Mendenhall 4 Heismanby Ricky O'Donnell on October 10 at 2:46AM
Preseason Heisman front runners are having a tough time in 2007. John David Booty sucks, Colt Brennan isn't healthy, Brian Brohm's team lost to Syracuse, and anyone from Michigan is done as well. Looking for a local dark horse to...
Is Tyrus Thomas lazy?by Ricky O'Donnell on October 8 at 9:09PM
At least Sam Smith thinks so. Smith suggests today that rookie Joakim Noah may steal minutes, and possibly a starting slot, away from Thomas because of his relentless work ethic, something Smith says Thomas does not have. From today's column...

PECOTA is smarter then Kenny Williams, White Sox fansby Ricky O'Donnell on October 4 at 7:37PM
Believe it or not, the 2007 White Sox were doomed even before Jose Contreras threw his first pitch opening day against the Indians. Just ask PECOTA, an acronym for Player Empirical Comparison and Optimization Test Algorithm, which correctly projected the...

Football makes me angryby Ricky O'Donnell on October 1 at 4:05PM
Next Sunday's game against the Packers might be the most important non-playoff game in recent Chicago sports memory. If the Bears lose, and remember it's in Lambeau, they aren't winning the division and probably aren't making the playoffs. If they...
