Unleash the Cannonby Ricky O'Donnell on September 18 at 3:36PM
Rex Grossman is not a game manager. He's the anti-Trent Dilfer. Grossman doesn't play to dink-and-dunk his way around the field, and let the defense take care of securing the victory. That's not how Rex rolls. The first two games this year, Turner has pulled the reigns in so tight on Grossman, that he can't play his game. When handcuffed, Grossman sucks. There's no denying that. You got to let him sling the ball all over the field to be effective, even if he throws some interceptions at times. Turner has had Rex on the same game plan he put in for Kyle Orton in 2005. We saw the Bears go to this at times last year as well, in the Jets game most notably, and not surprising, Grossman was always ineffective. The fact of the matter is that Grossman is the wrong style of quarterback for this particular team. I hate saying that because I love Rex, but he should be on a team that is a boarderline playoff contender, not a juggernaut like the Bears this season. The Bears defense is so dominant, that they just want Rex to stay out of the way and not make mistakes. That's reasonable because of the talent they have on the other side of the ball, but that isn't how Grossman plays. If Turner continues to lock up Grossman, he will continue to struggle. If a game managing quarterback is what the Bears really want, don't be surprised to see Brian Griese in a few weeks. Here's hoping Turner and the Bears unleash Rex against a very good Cowboys team Sunday night. If they do, you will see the offense improve immediatly.

Thank you Rickhouse...fuck Turner...I'm going downfield
I hope you're right Rickau!
What about me? Griese sucks more than I do.
The coaching staff needs to give Grossman some weapons if they want him to go down field. Moose is too old and slow to be effective anymore. Bradley must get out of the doghouse and on the field and Olsen needs to play for this offence to reach its potential.
Boo Grossman.
Too bad the Bears missed out on Byron.
I have a big schlong.
Congrats Doc you spelled offense wrong.
I completely agree with you on Turner and wrote about the same thing on my blog. The only problem I have with Rex is fundamentals and mistakes he keeps making. Throwing off the back foot, missing reads, and simply not throwing it away when the heat is on (although most of the sacks he's gotten this year have not allowed him to even do that). I thought he really addressed the basics with Pep Hamilton in the offseason and in training camp, but so far it hasnt panned out.
I like Turner, but his offense has turned into something so boring and predicatable its not even funny.
Rex Grossman has horrendous mechanics and very little decision making ability. He does not have a big root, either, i live in Bloomington (his hometown) and all the towny girls say he has whiskey dick. Weapons won't make a difference for rex. if he was on another team he would likely be a bench player. A great defense salvages his inability to make good decisions, stay in the game mentally, and not turn the ball over. His completion percentage is terribly low, and throwing hard doesn't mean you throw a good deep ball. Last year Drew brees led the league in completion percentage over thirty yards and he has no arm (he also could have been a bear last year). It has more to do with accuracy and timing which is something rex doesn't have. Rex has got to go. between fumbles and INTs his turnover to dropback ratio is one of the worst in the league. he doesn't have the proper work ethic to fix his mechanics or learn from his mistakes. he has never been able to complete more than 55 percent of his passes. The Bears can get better production with lots of other people.
