Alright, first of all the season isn't over, anyone who thinks that is a moron. Yes, the Bears are 1-2, but they hung with the Chargers (who may not be as good as we think), and got trounced by a very good Cowboys team. Yesterday was the worst game this franchise has played since 2004, even worse then the 05' playoff defeat at the hands of the Panthers. The Bears couldn't do anything yesterday, the entire team just played awful. The defense couldn't tackle, even Urlacher, the o-line was getting run over, and Rex was bad. While the loss certainly isn't solely on Grossman's shoulders- Why do we think John Tait is good? And isn't Archuleta supposed to know how to tackle?- he deserves a lot the blame, which he will get. The thing that makes it tougher on Grossman is that Romo was so unreal. I wrote in the game preview how I thought Romo was one of the seven or eight best quarterbacks in the NFL...he might actually be better then that. When compared with Rex the difference was night and day, and that's part of the reason the Bears got beat down so badly.

Now the question becomes not do you bench Rex, rather when do you bench him. I think he'll be the starter in Detroit next week and I believe he should be. But if Grossman keeps shitting all over himself, the Bears are too good not to make a change. Rex should get at least next week to see if he can turn it around, but if the Bears somehow lose to the Lions, he should get pulled. As Mike Mulligan suggested a few days ago, if Rex does get pulled, he should be the third stringer. Mulligan says the Bears may trade Grossman or try to cut him if they do in fact bench him because he serves no purpose for this team. You want to hear something crazy? I think Kyle Orton is good. My all-time fearless prediction is that Orton will make a Pro Bowl before his career is over- though I don't see it happening with the Bears. If Grossman isn't the answer, according to Mulligan's logic, then put Orton in the 2-hole and see if he is. While it's drastic, it might not be that far fetched.

Here's my problem with benching Rex: once it happens, people are going to realize Brian Griese isn't that good either. I bet he'll have a good two or three games once he becomes the starter, because it looks inevitable at this point, but does anyone think the Grease-Man can lead a team to the Super Bowl? I surely don't. To get to that level the Bears need Rex, and it isn't too late for that.

All I ask for next week is to give Grossman a fair shot. That means start flinging the ball all over the field, the only way Rex knows how to play. Remember how good he was the first six games last year? Put that game plan back in and give him a chance to be successful. If he can't come through then, maybe it is time to pull the plug.

And expect a few less blog posts this week because I guess some sweet videogame or something is coming out at midnight....

In conclusion, Brian Griese is the Master Chief.

I think it;s fair to say the Chargers aren't who we thought they are.

My big concern is that if Tony Romo had such an easy time dancing around the backfield hitting TO on crossing routes, imagine what Brett Favre and Donald Driver will do on October 7th.

This year could get ugly in a hurry.

I think Romo and TO are both far superior players to Farve and DD.

Rex is a fucking bum. There are college level players that are better them him. He is playing like shit and always has. The chicago fans have overlooked it because of the wins, but now its showing. Rex is like the chunky girl down the street that you sometimes fuck. She is good for awhile but then you get a hot girlfriend. You have to let the chunky fuck buddy go and dive into that girlfriend balls deep. I think chicago has yet to find that hot girlfriend. And they are slowing moving towards dating the chunky fuck buddy. Don't do it Chicago, you can do better. You can score Boy Band ASS

Eddie Money...tough and strange act to follow...

The problem is that Grossman will have a good game next week--mostly--against the Lions. And then crap himself again. When does it stop and why exactly should he get another week?

Why the big whoop over changing the QB? You can always change back! Really--you can! And if Grossman is too fragile to handle it than I really don't want him anyway.

Rex--enjoy backing up Brodie Croyle next year!
