So Jermaine Dye is angry at Kenny Williams for not wanting to extend his contract during the season, like the GM did for Mark Buehrle.
For the last few days Jermaine Dye has kept to himself in the White Sox clubhouse, off in a corner with headphones on. It has not gone unnoticed among his teammates and the apparent reason is management's refusal to talk about extending his contract as it did Mark Buehrle's. "I've spoken to Jermaine on a couple of occasions this year," Williams said. "While I'm extremely disappointed in how he may feel, I respect what he has done for us and I respect the man that he is."He's frustrated, and I have news: We're all a little frustrated around here right now because we're all better than this and he's better than he's showing this year too. We're all in this together.
Well maybe this is the problem Jermaine, you’re not any good. Why would the White Sox invest a substantial amount of money in a 33 year old right fielder who’s hitting all of .229 this season? Dye has himself to blame for his performance, one that’s surely going to cost him tens of millions of dollars. Now I understand that JD took less money to come to Chicago in the first place, won World Series MVP, and then put up absolutely incredible stats last season. He’s done a lot for the White Sox and I can understand why he thinks the Sox sort of owe him something. But for a franchise that has to watch where it throws it money, it would be pointless to give Dye anything. Sure it’s great to be loyal, but the Sox can’t afford it. Now if Dye were performing the way he did last season- .315/44/120- he would have no problem getting a new contract. It might not be from the White Sox- I remember reading something on SI during Spring Training that said Dye was looking for a contract around 6 years 100 million- but he would have no problem finding another home that would pay him well. And as for being upset that he’s not getting the Mark Buehrle treatment, JD has to realize he’s not Mark Buehrle. First of all, if Buehrle’s contract ended after last season, I don’t think the Sox would have extended him. He had a bad second half last year, and Kenny probably wouldn’t have shelled out 14 million a year during that time. But Buehrle is doing great now, an ERA under 3, and he deserves the contract (and probably more) the White Sox gave him. It is good, however, that Dye is starting to get hot, hitting four homers in the last five games. Maybe it’ll up his trade value a little. How about Dye and Contreras for Matt Kemp or Lastings Milledge?

I don't know; JD had a rough start. He's my favorite player on the Sox. They do kinda-semi owe him a new contract. But I'm sure he'd command more money than they'd shell out, anyway.
It's very stalemate-y.
