When our little G-Reg post showed up yesterday on Deadspin and AOL Fanhouse, we thought that was the most publicity it would get. But today, the 7th Floor Crew is everywhere. They're being talked about on 670 the Score and ESPN 1000, not to mention getting on the front page of the Chicago Sun-Times. Not to sound smug, but we're pretty sure that without our post, and of course the help of the great Will Leitch, this wouldn't have come out yet. Really, it's a testament to just how big Deadspin is. The Bears drafted Olsen on Saturday, and for two days no one mentioned a word about the 7th Floor Crew. After we wrote about it on Monday, we emailed Leitch, knowing that he's covered The Crew in the past. He posted it on Deadspin, and now look what's going on.

Carol Slezak's column got the front cover (not just the sports section) of the Sun-Times, and apparently she thinks The Crew should be in jail right now.

After listening to all 8 minutes and 56 seconds of this unbelievably disgusting rap, I was shaking in anger and shock. How is it possible for these young men to have such little respect -- or is it hatred? -- for women? If Don Imus got fired for the comments he made about the Rutgers women's basketball team, these guys deserve jail time by comparison.

Does anyone really think Greg Olsen hates women? Of course not, and anyone who thinks Marvalous, Big Beast, T Good, and G-Reg should in prison right now is absolutly insane. People have to realize these guys did this as a joke. No one believes the stuff they rap about actually went on, do they?

Jay Mariotti also chimed in today, saying this negative publicity is the last think the Bears need:

Such as, did the Bears know about Olsen and the tape? And if they did, why did they draft him? The reason I ask is because Angelo and Lovie Smith, throughout the Johnson debacle, continued to insist they would emphasize good character in the acquisition of players. I realize no one has been shot, assaulted or raped, and that in the grand scheme of athlete-related crime, these are words in a free-speech society. But a franchise that markets itself as a family attraction -- and offers Staley the Bear as a kid-friendly mascot -- must be embarrassed by a first-round pick ''fittin' to make those hos choke.'

We wrote that post to say that Greg Olsen is awesome and how good the song is. Now everyone is taking it out of control. If you want to listen to the song, here it is again.

Is there anyone in Chicago (sportswriting world) that can take a joke? No, I don't think Greg Olsen is really advocating for the right to choke his ho. Jay the Joke.
