6. Washington Redskins- S LaRon Landry, LSU

As the guys on ESPN said, Landry is the best defensive player in the draft. Plus, he instantly boosted his credibility with us by wearing a White Sox hat. That’s what we look for in our NFL Draft prospects. This pick probably came down to Landry or Okoye after the Bears refused to deal Briggs, with Landry winning out because he’ll contribute sooner. We often don’t agree with what the Skins’ do, but this is a good pick.

7. Minnesota Vikings- RB Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma

Man, teams in the Bears’ division keep taking guys we like. Then again, we called Akili Smith the best quarterback of the 1999 Draft, so you never know. Peterson is monster when he’s healthy; if he didn’t get hurt his junior season, we think he may have gone #1. He’s that good, we can’t believe he fell to seven. This pick immediately makes the Vikings the clear cut second best team in the NFC North, and with a great offensive line already in place, we’d be surprised if Peterson wasn’t a pro bowler as a rookie.

8. Atlanta Falcons- DE Jamaal Anderson, Arkansas

We really like Anderson and think he’s the best defensive end in the draft. I’m sure Okoye was tempting to his old coach, Bobby Petrino, but Anderson teaming up with John Abraham is pretty scary. Since we have nothing else to add, let’s talk about these Madden commercials. We’re huge Madden fans and love seeing the first advertisements for the game during the draft. This year, the commercials have featured last years rookies, including our guy Devin Hester. Whats the over/under on the amount of takes it took Hester get those lines right? 55? 60? We love Hester but he’s dumb as shit. Not that the Bears drafted him on his ability to correctly solve logarithms, but we’re just saying.

9. Miami Dolphins- QB Brady Quinn, Notre Dame

We’re writing this before they’ve even announced the pick because everyone knows it’s coming. We’ve said all along Quinn will turn out being the best QB in this draft, and we’re sticking by him, especially now that he’s with a decent team in Miami. Sure they could use a cornerback like Leon Hall, but Quinn had to be the pick. If they can get Trent Green and sit Quinn for a year, even better. Brady Quinn is going to be good.

OH FUCK

LIVE REACTION HERE AT TUP AS TEDDY GINN JR. GOES #10.

How exciting…

Didn’t see that one coming. We honestly just wrote that entire paragraph during the time the Dolphins were on the clock. Well we like Quinn and don’t like Ginn, so…I don’t know. Ginn is real fast and will definitely be a weapon in Miami, but Jeez. They better get Green now otherwise this pick could be disastrous. That being said, a lot of people don’t like Quinn, so maybe this is the right pick, even though we (and Mel Kiper) don’t agree with it. Obviously, any of these bozos could be awesome or could suck. It’s the reason we love the draft and others hate it. Either way, Ginn over Quinn is the first major surprise of the draft.

10. Houston Texans- DT Amobi Okoye, Louisville

Now back to your regularly scheduled draft action. Amobi Okoye, good pick for the Texans. We find it funny that we’re the same age as Okoye and he’s in the NFL and we still play video games. But, hey whatever. Mom says we’re still cool. We have to mention that we really like what Houston is doing. This defense is going to absolutely tenacious for a long time. We love Mario Williams and Demeco Ryans, and Okoye should hit right in. If the Schaubber turns out to be decent, this team should be competing in the AFC pretty soon.
