11. San Francisco 49ers- LB Patrick Willis, Ole Miss
Two of the top 11 picks have been shown wearing White Sox hate! That’s just fantastic. LaRon Landry and Patrick Willis just guaranteed the fact that I’m trading for them in Madden. We love Willis and think San Francisco made a great pick. The only thing is everyone knew San Fran loved Willis, why take the whole 15 minutes? With Willis and Nate Clements now on that defense, we like the 49ers chances in the NFC this season.
12. Buffalo Bills- RB Marshawn Lynch, California
This pick is pretty shocking. They lost Clements in free agency and had the two best corners in the draft, Hall and Revis, in front of them, but they went with Lynch. Apparently the Bills weren’t sold as Anthony Thomas as their starting running back. Good old A-Train. We’re not too high on Lynch, but you have to figure he’ll start right away.
13. St. Louis Rams- DE Adam Carriker, Nebraska
We’re not too high on Carriker, but clearly the Rams needed d-line help. We thought that Quinn had a chance to go here, but now looks like he’ll slip to at least Green Bay or Jacksonville.
14. Carolina Panthers trade to New York Jets- CB Darrell Revis, Pitt
The Jets traded up to get this pick, and they had their choice between Hall and Revis, the top two corners in this draft. It’s a little surprising because, like his mentor Bill Bellicheck, you might think Mangini would avoid taking a corner in the first round. But Revis is good; he and Justin Miller should make a good team of corners and kick returners.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers- LB Lawrence Timmons, Florida State
The Steelers love linebackers and Timmons fits their profile perfectly. We’re not too high on Larry because he only did it for one season and had disappointing workouts despite the fact that everyone thought he was a workout warrior. A corner like Leon Hall could have made more sense here.
